Ace Salt System Maintenance and Cleaning

Salt Water Hot Tub with ACE System: Key Information

Salt Level and Taste

The ACE system uses minimal salt. Humans can detect salt in water at concentrations of approximately 3,000-4,000 ppm. The target salt level for the ACE system is only 1,750 ppm, far below the detectable threshold. Here’s a comparison of salt levels in various liquids:

Liquid Average Salt Level (ppm)
Sea Water 35,000
Tears 6,000
Salt Water Pool 3,000-5,000
ACE Spa Water 1,750

Adding Salt to Your Hot Tub

The ACE system continually generates chlorine from the initially added salt. You only need to add more salt when draining and refilling the hot tub or after significantly topping off the water.

Understanding Active Oxygen

Active Oxygen refers to a powerful oxidizer (OH-) derived from water (H2O), different from oxygen (O2) from ozone (O3). It is created when energy splits water molecules, a process unique to the ACE system’s diamond electrode. This oxidizer breaks down waste and contaminants completely, leaving only carbon dioxide and water, without producing chloramines or other irritating byproducts.

Other Uses of ACE System Technology

The advanced oxidation process used by the ACE system is also employed in various industries, including groundwater purification, wastewater treatment, and water purification in food manufacturing and breweries.

Calcium Hardness Concerns

High calcium hardness can cause scale buildup, damaging hot tub components like jet pumps, heaters, and the ACE system electrodes. The Vanishing Act® calcium remover helps protect these components and makes the water feel softer by achieving the recommended calcium hardness level (50 ppm).

Decreasing Calcium Hardness

Use the Vanishing Act calcium remover to lower hardness levels and enhance ACE system performance. This reduces the need for additional chemicals that temporarily treat calcium.

Hard Water Solutions

The On The Go portable water softener is an effective solution for filling and topping off the hot tub with soft water, preventing high calcium hardness issues. It is reusable and lasts for the life of your spa.

High Calcium Hardness Maintenance

If scale accumulates on the ACE system electrodes, soak the ACE cell in a solution of pH Down and spa water for 10 minutes every three months. The ACE kit includes a cleaning bottle with instructions, and FreshWater® cell cleaning solution is also available.

Water Change Frequency

The ACE system reduces the need for frequent water changes by minimizing total dissolved solids through its efficient breakdown of waste and contaminants. Depending on usage, water can last up to 12 months.

ACE Cell Lifespan

The ACE cell is designed to last between 2 and 3 years, depending on the spa’s size and usage frequency. It operates for a finite number of hours, not 24/7.

Cost of ACE System

While the ACE system might be slightly more expensive than traditional water care approaches, it offers a unique ownership experience. It eliminates the need for manual sanitizer dosing and the associated side effects of spa water care.

Compatible Hot Tub Models
